The Fireweed Foundation provides clothing and outerwear for Alaskans facing disasters and major emergencies
Like the Fireweed plant that is the first to bloom after a devastating Alaskan wildfire, The Fireweed Foundation is designed to move quickly, plant a seed, and begin regrowing the entire ecosystem of relief and recovery.
Fast, Efficient, and Effective Aid for Alaskans
Alaska sees an average of 2-4 major disasters or declared emergencies annually, and as a result Alaskans have adapted to a culture of resilience and helping each other in times of need. This foundation is not a novel concept, but rather a much more efficient way for Alaskans to support each other like we have done for decades.
Testimonials
“When Typhoon Halong ripped the roof off my house, we had about one week before winter hit our village. The Fireweed Foundation donated materials to get my house weatherproof before it snowed, and we are very thankful.”
— James W. (Mekoryuk, AK)
“In 2025 a number of students were evacuated from their villages in Western Alaska. Many of them were allowed to enroll directly in Mt. Edgecumbe school in Sitka, but they had no personal belongings or supplies for school. The Fireweed Foundation recognized this and immediately stepped up to provide everything each of these kids needed for a successful new start in a real moment of need.”
— Crystal C. (Bethel, AK)
“The Fireweed Foundation fills the gaps in the earliest most chaotic days after a disaster. If people are in need of specific items, they simply get them what is needed without red tape and without delay.”
— Caleb L. (Anchorage, AK)
